VALDOSTA —
John David Smithie, 57 of Valdosta, Ga. passed away on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2013 in South Georgia Medical Center.
He was born on April 21, 1955 in Lowndes County, Ga. to the late Hattie Jewell Addison and Willie Joe Smithie of Valdosta Ga. He is also preceded in death by a brother, Stevie Smithie.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys Pierce of Valdosta; sons and daughter-in-law, Michael Smithie, Madison, Fla., David Smithie, Madison, Fla., Don Townsend, Live Oak, Fla., Greg and Gloria Townsend, Live Oak, Fla., Wendell “Peanut” Pierce, Valdosta; daughters, Cassandra Trowell, Valdosta, Stephanie Sthrol, Valdosta; 10 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, James Smithie, Valdosta, Billy Smithie, Quitman, Jerry and Christina Smithie, Quitman, Elwood and Sonya Godwin, Lake Park, Harvey “Junior” Godwin, Quitman; sisters and brothers-in-law, Brenda and Glenn Hall, Moultrie, Linda and Ben Terry, Quitman; and a number of nephews and nieces.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013 in the Oakhill Cemetery in Brooks County, Ga. The family will receive friends this evening, Feb. 22, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. at Music Funeral Services.
