VALDOSTA —
Acline Melton Sr., 93, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at his residence in Fruitland.
Mr. Melton was a native of Clinch County and lived most of his life in Echols County. He was the son of the late Israel Green Melton and Nancy Elizabeth Melton, preceded in death by Juanita Cribbs, Bertha Douglas, Aaron Melton and Farris Melton. He was a retired bee keeper and cut cross ties for the railroad.
Survivors are his three daughters, Linda and Robert Hendley of Fruitland, Barbara Walker of Fruitland, and Nancy and Billy Rowe of Fruitland; three sons, Acline Jr. and Robin Melton of Fruitland, Terry and Vicky Melton of Fruitland; four sisters, Nezzie Cribbs of Colon, Ga., Clinnie Williams of Homerville, and Ava Nell Steedley of Homerville; one brother, Virgil Melton Sr. of Homerville; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
Mr. Melton’s service will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, March 8, 2013, at Wayfare Primitive Baptist Church. Internment will be in Wayfare cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. today and Thursday at his residence in Fruitland.
