Melba (Candy) Elizabeth Wells, 65, of Lakeland went home to be with the Lord Friday, August 24, 2012 after a lengthy illness while home with her family. She was born February 17, 1947 to the late Irene (Lee) Bennett and Marcus Bennett in Valdosta. She enjoyed travel around the U.S., spending time with her family and was a Baptist by Faith. She was a homemaker by choice and will be missed dearly by her family.
She is survived by her husband Larry Wells of Ohio, daughter and son-in-law Christie and Matt Smith of Lakeland, daughter and fiance Sherry Frees and Eric Calloway of Valdosta, son and daughter-in-law Mathew and Sandra Frees of Valdosta, son and fiance Mitchell Frees and Amber of Valdosta, sister Joy Gulick of Graceville, Fla., special friend Gary Frees of Lakeland, cousin Aletha of Tennessee, friend Tony Hall of Valdosta, 16 grandchildren and one nephew.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 27, 2012 at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Music Funeral Services. Burial will follow in Empire Cemetery in Lanier County. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, August 27, 2012 at the funeral home.
