Rozell Coombs Russell

- — Rozell Coombs Russell, 97, of Cecil, died Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at South Georgia Medical Center.  She was born in Cook County on April 30, 1912 to the late William Robert and Ida Eunice Coombs.  Mrs. Russell was a homemaker, a member of Fellowship Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and in years past maintained the cemetery and grounds. 

Mrs. Russell is preceded in death by her husband, J. J. (Joe) Russell, one son, Gilbert Russell, one daughter, Emily Ivalene Russell, three sisters, Effie Buckles Sherrod, Inez Crosby, Louise Terry, four brothers, Jessie Coombs, Robert Coombs, Leo Hogan and Eunice Buckles.  She is survived by several nieces and nephews, Marion and Evelyn Coombs, Francis and Jackie Coombs, Sue and Larry Raines, Dorothy Kash, Ketna and Bill Hagler, Robert and Brenda Coombs, Barto and Teresa Coombs, Linda Jo Coombs,  Faye and Larry Teal, Lillian and Zane Hutchinson, Betty and Charles Sowell, Barbara and J. L. Bennett, Pat Tovar, Lucy and Tommy Carter, Chris Ried  and several great and great great nieces and nephews.  Her nieces and nephews that preceed her in death are Kenneth Coombs, Willene Webb, Doris Andert, Maurice Maddox, David Hogan and Charles Thompson.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 20, 2010 at two p. m. at Fellowship Baptist Church with Reverend Ike Jefferson and Reverend Tommy Bussey officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  She will be placed in the church at one p. m.  Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Fellowship Baptist Church cemetery fund.  The family will receive friends from six until eight p. m. Friday at the Martin McLane Funeral Home in Hahira.  Red was Mrs. Russell’s favorite color and the family request that you wear red to her service in celebration of her going home to be with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.  Condolences to the family may be expressed online at www.mclanefuneralservices.com. — Martin McLane Funeral Home, Hahira, Ga.
