VALDOSTA —
Mr. Richard N. Rowan, age 87, of Lithia Springs, Ga. passed away Friday, July 27, 2012. He was born July 26, 1925 in Attalla, Ala. Mr. Rowan served in the Coast Guard and was a member of the American Legion. He was a retired home builder and member of Atlanta West Pentecostal Church. Mr. Rowan loved tinkering in woodworking.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John O. and Mamie Lou Hazel Rowan; his wife, Edith June Rowan; son, Ric Rowan; sisters, Joyce Dye and Grace Archer; and brother Robert Rowan.
He is survived by his son, John and Millie Rowan of Douglasville, Ga.; grandchildren, Ricky and Aletha Rowan of Panama City, FL, Johnny Rowan, Jr. of Huntsville, Ala., Deric Rowan of Clayton, Ga., Scott and Brandy Rowan of Toney, Ala., Mitzi Rowan of Athens, Ala., Krissy Halker of Jacksonville, Fla.; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; sisters, Harriet Cornelius of Douglasville, Ga., Barbara Harper of Clinton, Tn., Wanda Williams of Augusta, Ga.
The family will receive friends at Morgan Funeral Chapel, Attalla, AL on Sunday, July 29, 2012 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. The funeral service will be Monday, July 30, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the Morgan Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Brad Fain officiating. Interment will follow at Rainbow Memorial Park, Gadsden, Ala.
