Agnes Evans Barrett

-- — Funeral services for Agnes Evans Barrett, 90, will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012 at Allen & Allen Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville. The Rev. Steve Clawson will officiate and internment will be held in Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Barrett died on Aug. 4, 2012 in Valdosta. Born Jan. 15, 1922 in Valdosta, she was the daughter of the late Durward R. and Vestia L. Minix Evans. Mrs. Barrett lived in South Georgia her entire life. She was married to Crawford Eugene Barrett, who preceded her in death on Aug. 30, 1990. Mrs. Barrett worked as the supervisor of housekeeping at Greenwood Plantation and also was a hairdresser for 34 years. She was a Charter member of Dawson St. Baptist Church and a member of the Briarcliff Garden Club. Her hobbies included quilting, reading, sewing, working with flowers, painting and embroidering. She also loved to cook especially baking wedding cakes which she did for many local brides. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles “Buck” Evans, Walter Lee Evans, Ronald Evans and by her sister, Jackie Evans.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Margaret and Arliss Boyles of Barwick and a son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Barbara Barrett of Hahira. Also surviving are grandchildren Jay Barrett, Stacey Boyles, Michael and Shea Boyles, Ryan and Heather Ferguson, and great-grandchildren, Ethan, Mabree and Seth Boyles. Other survivors include a sister Odean Capps of Macon, sisters-in-law, Ruth Wilson Evans of New Mexico, Janice Little of Columbus, Eudell Bryant of Pine Park and several nieces and nephews.
