Raymond Vernon Parrish

-- — Raymond Vernon Parrish, 82, of Valdosta died Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at the Langdale Hospice House. He was born on September 1, 1929 in Lowndes County to the late Aubrey V. (Buck) and Mary Ruth Herring Parrish and was a lifelong resident of this area. Mr. Parrish was a member of the St. Augustine Road Church of Christ and retired from the Southern Railway. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served in Korea. Mr. Parrish enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Survivors include wife of 59 years, Marian Fletcher Parrish of Valdosta, two sons and daughters in law, Tom and Brenda Parrish of Marietta, Jeff and Debbie Parrish of Valdosta, daughter in law and her husband, Karen Parrish Ellis and Steve Ellis of Lake Park, son in law and his wife, Allen and Shay McDaniel of Valdosta, nine grandchildren, Matt Parrish, Clay (Nicole) Parrish, Ashley (Lila) Parrish, Bryan McDaniel, Brett McDaniel, Erin (Wesley) Fielding, Kayla (Luke) Fletcher, Sarah Ramos, Dana (Joe) Brown, 12-great grandchildren, brother and sister in law, Bill and Delores Parrish of Valdosta, two sisters and brothers in law, Vada and Andy Anderson of Athens, PA., Ruth and Talmadge Moore of Kathleen, GA., sister in law, LaQuita Parrish McLeod of Lake City, Fla. He was preceded in death by a son, Donald (Don) Parrish, a daughter, Nancy Parrish McDaniel and a brother, Aubrey Sheldon Parrish.

Funeral services will be held at 11am, Thursday, July 12, 2012 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 10am-11am at the funeral home. A private interment will be held at Sunset Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of South Georgia, P. O. Box 1727, Valdosta, GA 31603-1727.
