Douglas E. Shaffer, 94, of Brooks County, passed away at his daughter’s home on Tuesday, February 26, 2013.He was born June 9, 1918. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Spell Shaffer; mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Reasen Shaffer; sisters Lavenia Shaffer Kennedy, Mattie Shaffer; and brothers Robert Shaffer and Herbert Shaffer.
He is survived by Sonny and Daughter Joan Simpson of Valdosta, Ga., Paul and Daughter Sarah Hughes, Monticello, Fla., Granddaughter Delores and Jay Hicks, Monticello, Fla., Grandson Sonny and Valerie Simpson, Trophy Club, Texas, five Great-Grandchildren and 4 Great Great-Grandchildren.
Douglas was a paint and auto body man by trade and had last worked with Smith Motors of Valdosta at his retirement.
