VALDOSTA —
Acline Melton Sr., 93, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at his residence in Fruitland, Ga.
Mr. Melton was a native of Clinch County, Ga., and lived most of his life in Echols County. He was the son of the late Israel Green Melton and Nancy Elizabeth Melton.
Mr. Melton was preceded in death by his wife, Dolly Mae Chauncey Melton; two sisters, Juanita Cribbs and Bertha Douglas; two brothers, Aaron Melton and Farris Melton.
He was a retired beekeeper and cut cross ties for the railroad. He was also a woodsman, chipping boxes and cutting timber.
Survivors are his three daughters, Linda and Robert Hendley, Barbara Walker, Nancy and Billy Rowe, all of Fruitland; three sons, Acline Jr. and Robin Melton of Haylow, Tim and Mahala Melton, Terry and Vicky Melton, all of Fruitland; three sisters, Nezzie Cribbs of Colon, Clinnie Williams, Ava Nell Steedley, both of Homerville; one brother, Virgil Melton Sr. of Homerville; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
Mr. Melton’s service will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, March 8, 2013, at Wayfare Primitive Baptist Church. Interment will be in Wayfare Cemetery.
The family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. Thursday. Mr. Melton will remain at his residence until the service on Friday.
