Ernestine (Brenda) Joyce Ann Brooks

-- — Ernestine (Brenda) Joyce Ann Brooks was born to Mr. Ollie and the late Maggie Mae (Lula Mae) Brooks on September 1, 1946 in Hopehull, Alabama.

Lovingly known as Brenda, she was educated in the Brooks County School System, Quitman, GA. She attended N.Y. School of Nursing, Manhattan, N.Y. earning a L.P.N. License; she was employed by the Presbyterian Home, Quitman, GA and Smith Hospital, Hahira, GA working in the newborn nursery until she became ill.

Brenda served the Lord and became a devoted member of Mt. Hope Baptist Church of Quitman, Georgia under the leadership of Rev. Washington where she sang in the choir.

Brenda was preceded in death by her mother: Maggie Mae Brooks, grandmother Ocelia McQueen, brothers Franklin (Vernon Brooks) S. Williams and Michael Brooks, a sister Beverly Denise.

On September 26, 2012, Brenda departed this life at Brooks County Hospital, Quitman, Georgia. She was called home by the Angels who came and took her to a land that is free from sickness, sorrow and pain to live with the Lord. She is just over in Glory Land and has joined the Happy Angels Band, there with the Might Host she Stands.

She leaves to cherish her memory: Father, Ollie Brooks, a daughter April Williams, three grandchildren Zy’Airia, Gerrode and Ahrya, Birmingham, AL, a loving and devoted sister Sandra Brooks (Willie) Ft. Lauderdale. FL, brothers Willie Alvin Brooks, Miami, FL, Ollie Brooks, Orlando, FL. and Lorenzo Brooks; Chicago, Illinois. Aunts: Eva Lois McCorvey, Mobile, AL., Louise Frazier, Orlando, FL., Yvonne Branch, Quitman, GA and Annie (Ann) Harrison, Deerfield Beach, FL. A devoted friend Willie Cunningham, Ft. Lauderdale, FL. A host of relatives, friends and special friends, Nicki, Juanita & Nora Ghee, Betty Powell, Robert Edwards and the staff at the Presbyterian Home, Quitman, GA.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 3:00 P.M. at the Mt. Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Quitman, GA with Pastor Delvin Boatman officiating.  Burial will follow in the North End Cemetery in Quitman.  — Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home
