- — Carrol Wayne Taylor, 66, of Valdosta, passed away Friday, July 27, 2012, at his home after a lengthy illness.

Wayne was born Oct. 17, 1945 in Berrien County, a son of the late Marcus Soloman Taylor and the late Irene Soloman Taylor Thornton. He graduated from Chamblee High School and honorably served in the U.S. Navy. He moved to Valdosta in 1970 and was employed with Crackin Good Bakery for thirty years. He was a dedicated husband and father, and loved his granddaughter. Wayne loved life and was a Baptist.

He is survived by his wife of forty years, Linda Spells Taylor; two loving sons, David Wayne Taylor and Christopher Bryan Taylor; his granddaughter, Ansley Brooklyn Taylor, all of Valdosta; three sisters, Doris Griner of Titusville, Fla., Hazel Hill of Chamblee, and Gloria and husband Bill Welch of Amelia Island; four brothers, Billy F. Taylor of Riverdale, Marcus Taylor, Jr. and wife Laura of Lake Park, Kenneth Taylor of Lakeland, and Albert Hall and wife Susan of Riverdale; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several sisters and brothers.

The Funeral Service for Mr. Taylor will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 30, 2012, at the Chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home, with the Rev. Wayne Boykin officiating. Interment will follow at West View Cemetery, Nashville.  Wayne’s family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
