VALDOSTA —
Ellen Judy Moore Roberts, 90, of Valdosta, died on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at Lakehaven Nursing Home. Born on Nov. 27, 1922 in Morven she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Ada Mae Scruggs Moore. She attended Georgia State Woman’s College and then taught school in Morven. Mrs. Roberts retired as Branch Manager from First Federal Savings and Loan in Chattahoochee, Fla. She was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church where she was active in the “Mary Martha” Sunday School Class. She volunteered at LAMP and she was a prayer warrior. Her happiest time, in her last years, was at Langdale Place, where she resided for nine years.
Survivors are her a son and daughter-in-law, Don and Claire Roberts of Starke, Fla.; daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Jim Hunt of Nashville, Carrie and Larry Byrd of Shallowater, Texas; her grandchildren, Paige and Brian Lingold, Shian and David Sparks, Kim and Chris LaRocca, Debbie and Max Callaham, Syd Meyers, Don and Cindy Roberts, Ann Carol Hopkins; and a number of great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, W. Cullen Roberts, a brother, Carol Moore and a grandchild, Tammy Robison.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. The Rev. Charlie Scarbrough will officiate. Burial will follow at Campground Cemetery in Morven.
