Eloise Chance Garrett, 101, a beloved mother and the widow of Paul T. Garrett, Sr., departed this life on Sunday morning, Jan. 20, 2013, at her residence.
Mrs. Garrett was born the daughter of James Walker Chance and Iola Boyd Palmer Chance on Nov. 12, 1911 in Waynesboro, Ga. She was a retired nurse with the State of Georgia. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Quitman, Ga.
She leaves behind: a daughter, Judith G. Cox; four grandchildren, Alan G. Cox, Joseph “Leslie” (Rosemary) Cox¸ Susan G. (John) Bishop, and Michelle L. Cox; seven great-grandchildren, Kyle Cox, Jarred Cox, Garrett Cox, Amanda Cox, Leslie-Patrick “LP” Cox, Andrew Bishop, and Ben Bishop. She also leaves behind: a brother, J. William “Billy” Chance; and a sister-in-law, Joan Crow Garrett.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; a son, Paul T. Garrett, Jr.; seven brothers, Jefferson B. Chance, Frances Leslie Chance, Jesse Campbell Palmer, John T. “Teddy” Palmer, Jr., George “Bunny” Chance, Roland Davis Chance, and Boyd McAllister Chance.
Graveside service was held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, in Lebanon Cemetery directed by the Georgetown Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home, Georgetown, S.C.
