Janie Daniel Griffin

VALDOSTA — Janie Daniel Griffin, 89, of Valdosta, died on Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at Langdale Hospice House. She was born on Dec. 18, 1923, in Adel, Ga., to the late Sol and Sally Bennett Daniel. She worked at Belk’s Department Store before working with Pine Grove School as a librarian. She then worked for Wilbro’s where she worked in the jewelry department and was the top salesperson in that department for many years. She was vivacious, outgoing, and a real people-person. She never met a stranger and her zest and zeal for life was infectious. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Mrs. Griffin was a member of Cat Creek Primitive Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Etna and Jimmy Frost of Valdosta; a son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Belinda Griffin of Hahira; grandchildren and their spouses, Chance England of Barney, Mitzi and Sean Pender of Blackshear, Jimmy DeRon and Betsy Griffin of Adel, and Travis and Kim Griffin of Valdosta; great-grandchildren, Dalton Pender, Sadie Pender, Tristan Griffin, Kaliegh Griffin, Gavin Griffin and Isabelle Griffin; sisters and brothers-in-law, Eloise and Ralph Noles of Valdosta and Frances and Johnny Carmichael of Moultrie; devoted nieces and nephews and their spouses, Eunie D. Hendricks, Jackie D. Carter, Bobby and Sylvia Davis, Pat and Sandra Davis, Cheryl N. Lowe, all of Valdosta, Faye and Mickey Eller and Brenda and Freddy Griffin, all of Adel; other loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.T. Griffin; and four brothers, Ralph “Lucky” Daniel, Shellie Daniel, Luther Daniel and Graydon Daniel.

Services for Janie Daniel Griffin will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Elder Thad Marshall, Elder Jim Sandlin, Elder Bob Dickerson, and the Rev. Ike Jefferson officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
