VALDOSTA —
Lois Josephine Lindsey, 78, of Hahira, Ga., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born in Buffalo Junction, Va., on Feb. 16, 1934, to the late Emmitt Leonard Yancey and Mary Edith Jones Yancey, but had lived in Cook County since 1990. Mrs. Lindsey was a homemaker and a member of Salem Primitive Baptist Church.
She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Robert “Butch” Lindsey of La Grange, Ga., James Perry and Anne Lindsey of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Johnathan Lee and Louise Lindsey of Virginia Beach, Va.; a daughter, Mary L. Lindsey of Hahira; seven grandchildren, Brian Lindsey of La Grange, Jason Lindsey of La Grange, Shannon Kissane of Coral Springs, Fla., Missy and Leon Alvarez of Bogata, Colombia, Michael Lee Lindsey of of Valdosta, Ga., Carmen Marie and Jonathan Statham of Tifton, Ga., Jennifer Ann and Jose Carbajal of Roswell, Ga.; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Leonard and Linda Yancey of Chesapeake, Va., George Yancey of Nacogdoches, Texas; and a sister and brother-in-law, Nell and Bill Seeds of Portsmouth, Va.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew Robert “Bob” Lindsey.
The family will receive friends Friday, Feb. 1 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave., in Adel, Ga.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at Salem Primitive Baptist Church in Adel, Ga., at 2 p.m. with Elder Tony Marshall officiating. Interment will follow in Money Family Cemetery in Cook County.
