VALDOSTA —
Claudia Lunsford, 87, of Valdosta, passed away on Monday, Feb. 5, 2013, at Langdale Hospice House.
She was born Sept. 18, 1925, in Red Level, Ala., a daughter of the late John Oliver and Vera Mae Nichols Morris. Mrs. Lunsford, a licensed electrologist and cosmetologist, owned and operated Claudia’s French Salon, and later taught cosmetology at Valdosta Beauty School. She was a member of New Harvest United Methodist Church and she enjoyed traveling and gardening, especially flowers.
She is survived by her four daughters and three sons-in-law, Charlotte and Larry Dennis of Lake Park, Glenda Powell of Thomasville, Ruth and Wendell Clements of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Melba and Clyde Amerson of Jennings, Fla.; 11 grandchildren, Stacy McFarland, Lisa and husband Hernan Posas, Jillyn Dennis, Jason and wife Shauna Powell, Robin and husband Chris Mullins, Justin and wife Deidre Powell, Amy and husband Kavan Elliott, Brian and wife Amy Boutwell, Clyde III and wife Keri Amerson, Shawn and wife Kristin Amerson, and Erin Amerson; 21 great-grandchildren; two sisters, June Perritt and Joyce Raney, both of Jay, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Alston Lunsford; and two brothers, Clettus and John Morris.
Funeral service for Mrs. Lunsford will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Hauser officiating. Interment will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
