Doris Blankenship Herrington, 84, of Waycross passed away Saturday, August 18, 2012 at her son’s residence after a brief illness. She was born June 2, 1928 in Floyd County to Leila Pruitt Blankenship and Robert Austin Blankenship Sr., the youngest of seven children. She, along with her late husband, James, was the owner and operator of The Steak House Restaurant on US 1 South for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Herrington Sr., a Son, James A. Herrington Jr., and a Daughter, Doris Kay Herrington.
Survivors include Daughter Deborah Brooks of Orlando, Fla., Four sons, Russell P. Herrington of Portal, Ga., Bobby L. Herrington of Hinesville, Ga., Bruce Herrington of Lakeland, Georgia and Norris Ray Herrington of Sedalia, Miss, 16 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Music Funeral Home in Waycross with burial to follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Waycross. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service.
