Guy Koonce Moore

-- — Mr. Guy Koonce Moore, 76, of Adel, Ga., passed away Sunday March 3, 2013 at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta. He was born on Aug. 30, 1936 in Little Rock, Ark., to the late Cecil Elmo Moore and Mabel Marie Koonce Moore. Mr. Moore was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Adel and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force after 26 years of service where he served in the Vietnam and Korean Conflicts as an electronics warfare specialist. After retirement from the military he worked in Civil Service for several years as a Quality Assurance Representative. Mr. Moore was a cancer survivor and a loving Daddy and Grandpa; he enjoyed fishing, restoring military vehicles and spending time with his grandchildren.

Mr. Moore is survived by his wife, Mary E. Moore of Adel; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Alan Moore of Adel, Raymond Moore of Jackson, Tenn., and David and Miranda Moore of Enigma; six daughters, Christina Holland of Nashville, Ga., Cynthia Holt of Covington, Tenn., Melanie Sanders of Hahira, Rebecca Moore of Bartlett, Tenn., Evelyn Moore of Adel, and Colleen Purvis of Nashville, Ga. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Moore was preceded in death by an infant son.

A rosary service will be held  today, March 5, 2013 beginning at 5:30 p.m. at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Adel. The Moore Family will receive friends at Mr. Moore's home Wednesday evening March 6, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. for a Celebration of Life (you are welcome to pay your respects anytime after 3 p.m. on this day). A memorial service and funeral mass will be held Thursday March 7, 2013 at 9 a.m. in the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave., in Adel, with Father Fredy Angel and Father Marvin Le Frois officiating. A committal service will follow later on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville, Ga.

The family requests that no flowers be sent but rather that you make a donation in Mr. Moore's memory to the Leukemia and Lympohoma Society at www.lls.org, or to Queen of Peace Church and Missions Building Fund, 1706 S. Hutchinson Ave., Adel, GA 31620. — Boone Funeral Home, Adel
