Mrs. Myrtle Bennett Whittington, 79, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2013 in the Clinch HealthCare, following an extended illness.
Mrs. Whittington was born Nov. 2, 1933 in DuPont, Ga., to the late William Jefferson Bennett and Annie Bell McRae Bennett. She was a member of the Shiloh Southern Congregational Methodist Church and had worked at Acme Pharmacy. She was preceded in death by her husband: Horace Jefferson Whittington; two sisters, Ethelle Smith and Wiona Kinnon; two brothers: Dixon Bennett and Rudolph Bennett.
Survivors are one daughter and a son-in-law: Gail and Ronnie Gilliard, Homerville; two sons and daughters-in-law: Glynn “Weasel” and Lynn Whittington and Billy and Deborah Whittington, Valdosta; one brother and sister-in-law: Dempsey and Janice Bennett, Homerville; six grandchildren: Chris and Stacy Kendrick, Roy and Michelle Burkett, Zack and Gigi Kendrick, Shanna Lankford, Jeff Whittington and Annie Whittington; five great grandchildren: Zoe Kendrick, Ivy Kendrick, Brooks Burkett, Baylee Burkett and Auden Lankford; and a number of other relatives and a special caregiver and sister-in-law: Ruth Zenick.
Funeral services for Mrs. Whittington will be held Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at two o’clock from the Shiloh Southern Congregational Methodist Church.
Interment will be in the Shiloh Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6 til 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Whittington will be carried to the church one hour prior to the services.
