VALDOSTA —
Helen S. Marr, 82, of Valdosta, and formerly of Kearny, N.J., died peacefully in her sleep on Monday, March 11, 2013. She was born in Kearny, N.J. Mrs. Marr lived in Kearny before moving to Valdosta eight years ago. As a young woman, she worked at Carlton Travel Agency, which was her father’s business. She later worked as secretary with the Kearny Fire Department and then as an administrative assistant with the State of New Jersey Department of the Treasury in the Inheritance Tax Division. She was a member of the Eastern Star and Harmony Circle at Grace Methodist Church.
She was the beloved mother of Carlton John Marr, Isabelle Brannon and Gordon Craig Marr; and grandmother of Christina, Cassandra, Caroline, Charlotte and Jessica.
Funeral service will be held at noon on Friday at Grace Methodist Church in Kearny, N.J., with burial to follow in the Arlington Cemetery in Kearny. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5-9 p.m. at the Armitage and Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Drive, Kearny, N.J.
