Eugene W. Ausley, of Valdosta died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013 at Berrien County Hospital. He was born in Samson, Ala., on Sept. 20, 1927 to the late Abner Lee and Ruth Norris Ausley. Mr. Ausley was a member of First Baptist Church of Valdosta. He retired as Scout Executive for Boy Scouts of America and he was a World War II United States Army Veteran. Mr. Ausley was also a member of the Kiwanis Club, the Rotary Club, the American Legion and he was a Mason.
Mr. Ausley is survived by two daughters, a son-in-law and a son and daughter-in-law. Susan Ausley Lett (Robert H.) of Greenville, S.C.; Peggy Ausley of Valdosta; son and daughter-in-law, Carter Ausley (Michelle) of Cairo, Ga.; five grandchildren, Robert Ryan Lett, Ashley Lett and Cody Lett of Greenville, S.C.; Jacob Ausley and Alyson Ausley of Cairo, Ga. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, Ann Ausley of Samson, Ala.; and Nelma Ausley of Montgomery, Ala. and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his wife Betty Ausley, two brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013, in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. Mac Weaver officiating. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1 p.m. until time of service.
