VALDOSTA —
Larry J. Taylor, 74, of Valdosta, passed away Monday, Aug. 13, 2012, at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born on Feb. 3, 1938, in Brooks County to the late Jim and Rosa Lee (Hall) Taylor. He served in many capacities with Providence United Methodist Church including the Men’s Club. He enjoyed life working in his yard, and attending his church, Providence United Methodist. Mr. Taylor enjoyed horses, retirement and especially taking care of his wife. He also enjoyed spending time with family and grandchildren. Mr. Taylor had a special love for cats. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, William McArthur III; and a brother, Jimmy Taylor.
Mr. Taylor is survived by his loving wife and soul mate of 54 years, Janice Craven Taylor of Brooks County, Ga.; daughter and son-in-law, Nikki and William McArthur, Valdosta; son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Julie Taylor, Valdosta; grandchildren, Kayla McArthur, Macie Taylor and Emily Taylor; brothers and sisters-in-law, Danny and Drinda Taylor, Books County, Jerry Michael and Carol Taylor, Brooks County; sister-in-law, Gloria Taylor, Pelham; a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012, in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial to follow in Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery in Brooks County.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
