Mr. Matthew Robert “Bob” Lindsey, 87, of Hahira, Georgia passed away at his residence Oct. 12, 2012. He was born June 13, 1925 in Washington, D.C. to the late Jonathan Franklin Lindsey and Loy Matilda Cowart Lindsey. Mr. Lindsey was retired from the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of WWII, Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Wars. He also retired from Civil Service and was a paper carrier for the Valdosta Daily Times for many years. He was a member of the Salem Primiotive Baptist Church in Adel, Ga.; a past Govenor of the Moose Lodge receiving the Fellowship Degree, a member of the V.F.W., the Federal Reserve Association and a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 13.
Mr. Lindsey is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lois “Jo” Yancey Lindsey of Hahira, Ga.; three sons and two daughter-in-laws, Robert “Butch” Lindsey of LaGrange, Ga.; James Perry and Anne Lindsey of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; Jonathan Lee and Louise Lindsey of Virginia Beach, Va.; one daughter, Mary L. Lindsey of Hahira, Ga.; a sister and brother-in-law, Jennie Kate and Paul Blackmon of Abilene, Texas; grandchildren: Brian and Jason Lindsey of LaGrange, Ga., Shannon Kissane of Portland, Fla.; Missy and Leon Alvarez of Bogata, Columbia and eight great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012 at the Salem Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Thad Marshall officiating. Interment will follow at the Money Cemetery in Cook county with full Military Honors. Visitation will be Monday, Oct. 15, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S.
