VALDOSTA —
James E. Shaffer, 69, of Valdosta, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was born on Sept. 24, 1943, to the late James Howell and Eddie Mae (Powell) Shaffer in Brooks County, Ga. He was a member of First Assembly of God and worked as a car salesman and transporter for Elite Motors (Owner, Randy Griffin). He loved to fish, cook and enjoyed gardening. He was preceded in death by his brother, Roy Shaffer.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Elaine Shaffer of Valdosta; daughter and sons-in-law, Connie and Robert Englemann, Valdosta; two sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Catherine Wills, Valdosta, James Tracy and Jessi Shaffer, Pinetta, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Cody Englemann (Christina), Chrystal Parsons (Cameron), Lindsey Englemann, Jillian Wills, Ashley Topp, Brandy Shaffer and James Stetson Shaffer; great-grandson, Skylar Topp; brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Priscilla Shaffer, Tenn.; special friends, Donnie and Linda Murray, Valdosta, Heather and Robert Corbin, Valdosta; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial to follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
