Mr. Anthony “Flint” Thrift, 89, died Friday evening (October 12, 2012) at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross following a short illness.
Mr. Thrift was a native and lifelong resident of Ware County. He was a member of Suwannee Chapel Church of God of Prophecy and retired from Jefferson-Smurfit as an equipment operator.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved his job and co-workers.
He was a son to the late Riley Thrift and Alma Hickox Thrift. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, J.L. Strickland.
Mr. Thrift is survived by his wife, Myrtice Strickland Thrift of Manor; three children, Laverne Strickland of Homerville, Harry A. Thrift (wife Teresa) of Homerville, and Stanley Thrift (wife Beth) of Homerville; four grandchildren, Margie Hendrix (husband Rick) of Homerville, April Lane of Homerville, Kaitlyn Thrift of Homerville, Kelsie Thrift of Homerville, Laurie Anna Lee (husband Josh) of DuPont, and Maura Howell (husband Ben) of Augusta; and five great grandchildren, Les Hendrix (fiancé Frances Spivey), Lacey Hendrix, Devin Lane, Addison Pittman, and Mack Dixon Lee.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday (October 16, 2012) at Suwannee Chapel Church of God of Prophecy. Burial will follow in Suwannee Chapel Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at Music Funeral Home in Waycross Monday evening from 6 until 8 o’clock.
