VALDOSTA —
Melvin “Stump” Young of Valdosta departed this life on Oct. 18, 2012. Mr. Young was born Feb. 24, 1941, in Wiley, Ga., to the late Dee Dee and Mattie Young. He was employed by Mayflower for over 20 years.
He leaves to mourn his wife of 43 years, Katherine Livingston Young; two sisters, Geraldine Griggs (Keneth) and Mable Young (William), all of New York; one sister-in-law, Betty Jean Jones of Valdosta; one brother-in-law, John C. Livingston (deceased); three daughters, Mable Lanette Young, Carolyn (deceased), and Kathleen Livingston of Valdosta; three sons, Carl Hart Sr. (Dianne), Benjamin Hart (Bessie) and Albert Hart (Doris) of Valdosta; his grandmother, Thelma Brandon; grandchildren, Marinese Wright (deceased) Eric Livingston (Carla), Carl Hart Jr. (Rashema), Ebony Robinson, Jasmine Henry, Kesha Livingston (Henry), Leon Jefferson Jr., Demtrius Smith, Carl Eday Sr., Keyonia Eday, Cher Neko Fox, Crystal Bradley; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; special friends, Elijah Homes (Ruthy) and Clara Russell; three goddaughters, Barbara Hodge, Diane Richardson and
Freddie Nell Robinson; a special friend, Eddie McKinney; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Special thanks to Valdosta Medical Clinic and Pearlman Cancer Center.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at Greater Pleasant Temple Baptist Church. Pastor Bernard Robinson will officiate.
Interment will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery —
