Annie Ruth Mercer

VALDOSTA — Sister Annie Frazier Mercer was born Dec. 2, 1928, to the late Miss Nettie Mae Henderson and Mr. Lee Graham of Valdosta. A brother preceded her in death, Rutherford Graham. She departed this life on Sept. 7, 2012, at 11:15 p.m. She attended and graduated from Dasher High School in 1947. After high school, she graduated from the Beauty School of Cosmetology in Savannah. She moved to Ft. Pierce, Fla., and worked as a clerk. She later moved to Detroit, Mich., for a short period of time and moved back to marry the love of her life, the late Willie (Pete) Frazier. She lived a very fulfilled life and accomplished everything she wanted. She opened Ann’s Vanity Box in 1960. After which, she became employed with the Valdosta City School system where she retired. She was a faithful member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church where she used her beautiful soprano voice in the choir and worked dutifully chairing church anniversaries, pastor anniversaries and other committees. She later met her handsome husband, Clifford Mercer. Sometime later, they were united in marriage. Years later, she became a member of Morningstar Baptist Church where she sang in the choir.

She leaves to lament her homegoing a loving husband, Clifford Mercer; her sister, Helen (Tyrone) Truitt of Decatur; grandson, Jeffery Frazier of Annandale, Va.; two stepdaughters, Evelyn (Marvin) Hampton and Pamela Mercer of Valdosta; two stepsons, Willie Frazier of Detroit, Mich., and Clifford Mercer of Valdosta; two granddaughters, Patrece Hampton of Valdosta and Tara Hampton of Jacksonville, Fla.; one great-granddaughter, Alexandria Rivera, also of Valdosta; a special and dedicated cousin, T.J. Henderson of Valdosta; classmate and special friend, Bessie Beverly of Indianapolis, Ind.; four goddaughters, Bessie B. Evans and family of Valdosta, Sandy Farrah of Columbia, S.C., Elizabeth (Reuben/PA) Jenkins, and Truoise Nash and family of Valdosta; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, at Morningstar Baptist Church. Pastor William C. Morgan is pastor and will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery. — Harrington Funeral Home
