Rachel Black, 45, of Valdosta, died Monday, April 16, 2012, at South Georgia Medical Center following a sudden illness. She was born in Hahira Aug. 31, 1966, to the late William Sr. and Veda Staten Dozier and had been a lifetime resident of this area. She was a homemaker and was of the Sabbath Day faith.
Survivors include her husband, Eddie Black; son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Gemma Black; daughter, Tiffany Black, and a son, Riley Black, all of Valdosta; sisters, Rita Diane Hutto of Albany, Ga., and Jennifer Elaine Dozier of Fla.; a sister-in-law, Judy Dozier of Morven; numerous nieces and nephews and her caring dog, Sandy Poo.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Dozier Jr.; and a nephew, Alan Dozier.
Service for Rachel Black will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 20, 2012, in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Pastor Billy Latham officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family requests that all who attend the services dress casually.
