Arnett King, Sr.,

VALDOSTA — Arnett King, Sr., affectionately know as Mr. Fat to many, was born in Palm Beach County, FL, to Lola and Dave King on October 20, 1920.  Arnett came to Jesus as a young man.

    He and the late Melvie Jenkins King were married in the 1930’s.  Melvie departed this life on July 25, 1986.  In this union, they had six children, Maxine Newsome of Quitman, GA, the late Arnett King, Jr., the late Willie Lee King, Armadan Thompson of Miami, FL., Ardwin King of Quitman, GA and Vera King Hollis of Dixie, GA.  Arnett was a grandfather to seventeen grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Arnett departed this life having had witnessed the inauguration of the first African American President, of which he helped elect, several children and grandchildren graduate from high school and college, and became a connoisseur of his favorite restaurant, Ole Times. Arnett was a blessing to all of family and friends. He will be missed dearly.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Mt. Hope Missionary Baptist Church at 3:00 P.M, with Pastor Delvin Boatman, Eulogist.  Burial will follow in the North End Cemetery.  Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home in Quitman, GA is in charge of all the arrangements.
