Josephine “Jody” Parrish

-- — Josephine “Jody” Parrish, 65, of Valdosta, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, September 22, 2012, unexpectedly at her home.

Jody was born April 2, 1947 in Glen St. Mary, FL, a daughter of the late Joe Brown and Mae Fair Beggs Logan.  Mrs. Parrish was a member Greenwood Baptist Church, Valdosta, and the Levi Sapp Chapter of the D.A.R., Adel.  She was a good Christian woman and loved the Lord.  She was also a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and was dedicated to the care of others.  She loved everyone she knew, and never met a stranger.

She is survived by her husband of twenty-six years, Lamar Parrish of Valdosta; three daughters, Darlene Cannon and Andy Shea of Valdosta, Sissie Bass and husband Keith of Valdosta, and Twyla Tucker and husband Don of Watkinsville, GA; nine grandchildren, Dustin and Amanda Gilbert, Sherry and Jason Stewart, Morgan Cannon, Crystal Musgrove, Addison Bass, Brandon and Falon Bass, Brandi and Albert Umpleby, Josh Tucker and Jessica Tucker; five great-grandchildren, Jayden and Brielle Gilbert, Cheyenne Habener, Carson Bass and Andrew Umpleby; she was eagerly anticipating the birth of two great-granddaughters in January; her beloved canine, Buddy; three sisters, Frances Boone of Valdosta, Anna Lauis Martin and husband J.B. of Seffner, FL, and Cecilia Cole and husband Dan of Cottondale, FL; three brothers, Joe T. Logan and wife Cynthia of Port Charlotte, FL, Frank Logan and wife Connie of Naples, FL, and Charlie Logan and wife Deborah of Jacksonville, FL; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Linda Cowart of Adel.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry Ann Pittman; and brother-in-laws, Bobby Boone, William Simmons and Emory Parrish.

The Funeral Service for Mrs. Parrish will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 25, 2012, at the Chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Bass, Rev. Tim Boone and Dr. Clyde Stokes officiating.  Interment will follow at Old Oakland Cemetery, Madison, FL.  The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Condolences to the family may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com.  — Carson McLane Funeral Home of Valdosta.
