VALDOSTA —
Clifford Edgar Stanford went home to be with the Lord on Aug. 13, 2012. Born in Wooster, Ohio on Feb. 4, 1927, to Clifford E. Stanford Sr. and Margra Sigler Stanford, he was one of five children. In 1949, he married Lela Hendrix and in January they celebrated 63 years together. Retiring after 32 years at Rubbermaid, they made a new home in Eustis, Fla., later moving to Valdosta. Clifford was an U.S. Army veteran and a lifelong member of the Wooster American Legion, Moose and the Eagle club. His love of people will be his legacy.
He is survived by his wife, Lela; daughter, Shirley (Mike) Dwyre of Florida; son, Harold “Bud” (Jeanne) Stanford of Georgia; and three grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and his beloved constant companion, his dog, Tinkerbelle.
As per his wishes, Mr. Stanford will be cremated and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to your SPCA in his name.
