VALDOSTA —
Curtis Charles Mathis, 61, of Nashville, passed away Sunday, July 22, 2012, at Tift Regional Hospital in Tifton. He was born on Aug. 22, 1950, in Berrien County to Melba Doris (Lewis) Mathis of Lakeland and the late Curtis James Mathis. He was a member of Camp Creek Missionary Baptist Church. Charles will be remembered by those with a sweet tooth for his baking and decorating of cakes.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Donnie Ray Mathis.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie Rooks Mathis, Nashville, Ga.; son and daughter-in-law, Marc and Stephanie Mathis, Alapaha; grandchildren, Wyatt and Tegan Rae Mathis; mother, Doris Mathis, Lakeland, Ga.; sister, Ruby Mixon, Eatonton, Ga.; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Suzanne Mathis, Lakeland, Ga.; sister-in-law, Teresa Mathis, Lakeland, Ga.; special cousins, Harold and Sara Lewis, St. Mary’s, Ga.; a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 28, 2012, at Camp Creek Missionary Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
