VALDOSTA —
George A. Read, Jr., 74, of Ray City died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born on June 2, 1938 in Hahira to the late George Alpheus Read, Sr. and Rachel Ray Read. Mr. Read was a retired retail sales manager and a self employed grocery store, gas station and car sales owner. He served in the United States Army.
Mr. Read is survived by his wife, Rosalyn Read of Ray City; two daughters and one son-in-law, Cindy W. and Bob Salazar of The Colony, Texas and Donna Benitez of Martinez, Ga.; four grandchildren, Savannah Read, Tristan Read, Logan Benitez, all of Valdosta and Michael Salazar of Carrollton, Texas; one great-grandson, Alex Salazar; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son, Stanley A. Read and grandson, Colby Alexander Read.
Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012 at 3 p.m. at Cat Creek Cemetery with Elder Jim Sandlin and Elder Bob Dickerson officiating. Burial will follow.
