VALDOSTA —
Gene Sutton, 80, of Valdosta, and formerly of Moultrie, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at his home.
Graveside rites will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, in Cobb Suncrest Memorial Gardens in Moultrie with the Rev. Alton Hardee officiating.
Born Dec. 24, 1932, in Moultrie, he was the son of the late Carlos Mitchell Sutton and Sally Elsie Norman Sutton. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a retired welder with Dial Communications in Tallahassee. “He was known for his creative welding and designing,” his family remembered. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Valdosta.
Survivors include his wife, Laverne Kerce Sutton of Valdosta; three daughters, Dianna Bennett and husband Larry of Moultrie, Cindy Brownlee and fiancée, Michael Walker of Richmond Hill and Sally Eickenhorst of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sons, Chris Sutton and Mitch Sutton, both of Valdosta; six grandchildren, Terry Bennett and wife Jessica, Ryan Hinson, Raven Sutton, Lexi Sutton, Mason Sutton and Kayden Eickenhorst; one great-grandchild, Hunter Bennett.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
