Jack L. Bennett

VALDOSTA — Jack L. Bennett, 61, lifelong resident of Valdosta, died on Thursday, January 31, 2013, at South Georgia Medical Center. Born on August 2, 1951, Jack was the son of the late Collis Levy Bennett and Selma Mae Clark Bennett. He was a graduate of Valdosta High School and served as a Medic in the United States Air Force. Jack worked with Bayliner for over 20 years doing work in Quality Control.  He worked in insurance sales and also with Macon Beauty Supply for several years in the South Eastern territory.  He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing golf with his best friends and his sons. He was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church.  Jack loved his family and was so proud of his children and grandchildren.  

Survivors are his wife, Jane Hunter Bennett of Valdosta;  daughter and son in law, Jessica and Chuck Laslie of Quincy, Florida, sons and daughters in law, Parks Bennett and Ashley Herrington Bennett of Washington, DC., Jason and K.C. Bennett of Valdosta;  grandchildren, Hunter Talmadge Laslie of Quincy, Florida, Ansley Diane Bennett of Valdosta; sisters and brother in law, Joe Ann and Robert Jenkins of Valdosta, Joyce Berry of Lancaster, Ohio, June and Joe Cooke of Valdosta; brothers and sisters in law, Jerry and Ann Bennett, Johnny and Paula Bennett, Jimmy and Billie Bennett all of Valdosta;  his mother in law, Jeanne Rountree of Valdosta and numerous nieces and  nephews.  

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 3, 2013 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home.  Rev. Richard Hart will officiate.  Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Saturday at the funeral home from 4 – 6 p.m.  Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, JDRF.org or to Trinity Presbyterian Church, 3501 Bemiss Road, Valdosta, GA 31605.
