Norma Gonzalez, 43, of Valdosta, died on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at Heritage Health Care at Holly Hill, after a short illness. Born in Cardenas, Mexico, on April 8, 1969, she was the daughter of Andrea Mendez Rios and the late Margarito Mendez. She was a homemaker and a member of the Lake Park United Methodist Church Hispanic Congregation. Norma was an excellent mother, wife, sister and friend. She loved and cared for her parents, and loved to cook for family and friends. She was very strong and active even when she didn’t feel good because of her health.
Survivors are her companion, Carlos Lopez of Valdosta; three daughters, Monserrat O. Lopez of Valdosta, Rosalinda Gonzalez and Karen Gonzalez of Pasadena, Texas; two grandchildren, Nathanael Romero and Dominque Romero of Pasadena, Texas; her mother, Andrea Mendez of Mexico; a sister and brother in law, Adela and Jose L. Urquilla of Valdosta; four brothers; special nephew and nieces, Jose A. Urquilla, Elisabeth M. Urquilla, Cesia S. Urquilla; sister-in-law, Karla L. Cruz of Valdosta; in addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, Reyes Mendez.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at 4 p.m. at Lake Park United Methodist Church. Pastor Isaac D. Salgado will officiate. Burial will follow at Lake Park Cemetery.
