Hugh H. “Papa Jake” Jacobs Sr., of Hahira, passed away on the morning of Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013 at his residence after a brief illness.
Mr. Jacobs was born Aug. 28, 1944 in Panama City, Fla. to the late Hubert Jacobs and mother and step-father, Audrey & Joe Stephens. He was a member of the Lakeland Church of Christ and was a veteran In the United States Navy. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Andy Stephens.
Survivors include loving wife, Mary O’Neal Jacobs of Hahira; sons and daughters-in-law, Hue H Jacobs Jr. & Kris Baseman of Orlando, Fla., Lonnie & Kathy Jacobs of Hahira, William & Justin Jacobs of Hahira; six grandchildren, Michael Jacobs, John Jacobs, Luci Jacobs, William Jacobs, Jr., Jessica Jacobs, T.J. Tillman; two sisters, Pat & Johnnie Johnson of Jacksonville, Fla., Hazel Stephens Yarbrough of Satsuma, Fla.; brother, Jerry & Pat Stephens of Francis, Fla.; numerous nephews, nieces and extended family members.
As per his wishes, he will be cremated and a memorial service will be held Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 3 p.m. in the Lakeland Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Lakeland Church of Christ at 45 East Main Street, Lakeland, Ga. 31635 or to the American Cancer Society at 323 Pine Avenue, Suite 100, Albany, Ga. 31701. — Music Funeral Services.
