Gelon Galbreath

-- — Services for Gelon Galbreath, 81, of Lakeland, Ga. and formerly of Cairo, Ga., will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March  2, 2013, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home. The Rev. Devin Schultz will officiate. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Cairo, Ga. Mr. Galbreath passed away on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at Louis Smith Memorial Hospital in Lakeland, Ga.

Mr. Galbreath born on June 23, 1931, in Reidsville, Ga. to the late C.C. Galbreath, Sr. and Mamie Lucille Holton Galbreath. Gelon graduated from Reidsville High School in 1948. He graduated from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, Ga. and from the University of Georgia. He joined the U.S. Army in 1952 and served in the Korean Conflict, where he specialized in Morse code. He was discharged in 1955. On May 24, 1958, he married Myrna Williams Galbreath, who survives. He was a retired entomologist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He was a member of Long Branch Baptist Church in Cairo and most recently attended Lakeland United Methodist Church in Lakeland.

Survivors include his wife, Myrna W. Galbreath of Lakeland, Ga. and formerly of Cairo, Ga.; daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Kevin Tuschl of Smyrna, Ga., Bonnie and John Hart of Lakeland, Ga.; son, David Galbreath and Sandy Carter of Orange Park, Fla.; granddaughters, Kelly Hart of Lakeland, Ga., Savannah Tuschl of Smyrna, Ga.; grandsons, Jonathan Hart of Lakeland, Ga., and Bryant Tuschl of Smyrna, Ga.

Mr. Galbreath was preceded in death by his father, C.C. Galbreath Sr.; his mother, Mamie Galbreath; brothers, C.C. Galbreath Jr., Hugh Galbreath; and a sister, Mary Evelyn Smith.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Post #122 of the American Legion in Cairo, George G. Thomas, III, 1218 Platt Avenue, Southeast, Cairo, Ga. 39828.
