Services for Sarah Elizabeth Thrasher Dodd, 82, are at 1 p.m., Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at Barwick United Methodist Church. The Revs. Kirk Beckham and Doug Harvey will officiate and interment will follow for family members in Rosewood Cemetery in Barwick. Mrs. Dodd died Sunday at her Barwick residence where she lived her entire life. Born March 9, 1927, in Barwick, she was the daughter of the late West Roundtree Thrasher and Sallie Lee Talley Thrasher. Her love of nature was evident by her flourishing gardens and devotion to animals but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Her kindness touched many lives. She was a homemaker and member of Barwick United Methodist Church.
She leaves a legacy of honesty, integrity, kindness and love of family. She was married to Fred Thomas Dodd who preceded her in death. Survivors include daughters, Patricia Dodd Hastings of Barwick, Deborah Dodd Squires and husband James Squires of St. Simons Island; son, Tommy Dodd and wife Nancy of Atlanta; her grandchildren, Tallie and husband Tye Pipkin, Jennifer and husband H.R. Price, Anna Lee and husband, Kris Griffis and Olivia Dodd; she was loved by great-grandchildren, Emily Hastings, Cole Griffis, Logan Griffis, Clayton Griffis, Thomas Pipkin, Sarah Baker Pipkin, Hollie Elizabeth Price; nieces and their families, Kaye Dodd and husband Bill Cooper of Daytona Beach, Fla., Carol Dodd and husband Bob Jordan of McDonough; and a sister-in-law, Ada Francis Dodd of Quitman.
