THUMBS UP: To Theatre Guild Valdosta. Tonight is the area’s last chance to see the community theatre organization’s poignant production of “The Trip to Bountiful.” The entire cast and crew do a brilliant job with this show, but if you attend at 7:30 p.m. today, The Dosta Playhouse, 122 N. Ashley St., you will learn why audiences have been giving Joanne Griner standing ovations.
THUMBS DOWN: To some members of the Valdosta-Lowndes County Conference Center and Tourism Authority. This week, for the second month in a row, the authority could not hold an official meeting because it lacked a quorum. That means not enough authority members participated for the authority to officially meet and conduct business. Attending meetings to conduct business is the primary duty of a member of any authority. If members cannot attend perhaps the Tourism Authority should seek new members who can.
THUMBS UP: To Wiregrass Georgia Technical College and Express Employment Professionals for its JobWise Informium this week. The event shared tips for finding jobs, preparing for interviews, and dressing for success. Attending their next job interviews, participants may find the afternoon as time well spent.
THUMBS UP: To Clarence Smith and Rashad Lewis. The Valdosta High School basketball players have combined for a stunning 62 percent of the points scored this season.
The Wildcats are ranked No. 10, have a 15-4 record and a perfect 8-0 record in Region 1-AAAAAA. The Wildcats play Lowndes High today.
