VALDOSTA — To the person complaining about the school buses speeding, those buses are diesel. You make think they are speeding because you can hear them before you see them. As long as the bus drivers are transporting your children to and from school safely, this should be your main concern.
To Superintendent of Lowndes County: Your recent video clip of how you are downsizing the school system was insulting. You basically said you are getting rid of 120 people approximately (for the reason of your choice). Then you went on to say you "included due process" in our decision on who will be let go...so we can't sue Lowndes or fight back. I say, fight teachers fight! Just today we were introduced to a brand new high dollar data program that was purchased to compare CRCT scores (when we already have several similar ones) and yet we are losing teachers because we can't afford them!
City Manager Hanson is right on for railing against those who claim Valdosta High is an inferior school. It has a great academic history led by some great teachers, many of whom I know, routinely turning out some of the most successful scholars in the state. Their problems are due to a large number of unmotivated students whose main goal is to create problems.
We think it is a shame and disgrace how these workers comp doctors look out for the companies instead of the patients.
At a time when people are losing their homes and jobs, our mayor and city council seem to be concentrating on spending money on luxury items and not taking care of the necessities. I think it is time for all of them to be voted out of office. That is wrong!

Great job to the Valdosta Middle School wrestling coaches. They presented a great banquet at Ryan’s Steakhouse.
I would like to know if the Lowndes County School system is in such a desperate need that they have to charge the children $20 to try out for the dance line of the Bridgemen? When has that ever happened before? What about the children who have no money? This is really disgusting!
They want bullet resistant glass? How 'bout just borrowing SWAT gear for the meetings?
