Thanks VDT for validating that I am different! Since the turn of the Century I have chose for whatever reason to say or write the year simply 01, 02,---09. Now with the new decade my speech will probably be twenty ten, twenty eleven.
The temporary recycling center north of Mineola is set up in such a way that people are stopping just inside the gate to throw out their garbage. This leaves no room for anyone to get off the highway and makes for a dangerous situation. Why not move that trash bin down further so several cars can get in? Meanwhile, the old site closer to Hahira is just sitting there. What was the hurry?
Health insurance deductibles are going up by $600 for county employees and yet the county still has the money to buy the old Griner car lot for over $1 million?
Kudos to VDT columnist Mike Hill for writing an excellent article on landscaping in this past Sunday’s “Homefront” that every homeowner should read. Many can learn from it.
The county is to be applauded for the purchase of the Griner property and continued development of a ‘blighted’ area and though I am not opposed to the City’s recent purchase, it still seems the citizens would be better served by a single vision and goal for our area.
I would like to praise all of the Valdosta people who thought about other people this holiday season. Some people are less fortunate than others. But if we all give a little it will add up to a lot. Get over what you don’t have thank god for what you do have.
To the residents of Northlake. Take pride in your restrictions and help enforce them. What a great area to live in here in Lowndes County, easy access to everything with County schools. People walk their dogs, ride bikes and go for walks at night feeling safe. Everyone needs to enjoy and help protect the treasure of Northlake. So mow those lots and follow the restrictions. Keep this area clean and safe for yourself and your children.
SGMC’s ER gets so much flack. But I was there, waiting for friend in the lobby, yes a lot of people had to wait, but those that were truly emergent, went back so fast. Chest pains, short of breath, possible stroke, those that needed immediate care got it.
Will Coach Gillespie also get fired if he doesn’t win a championship in four years?
