VALDOSTA —
Early voting for the runoff election to see who will make it to the November general election begins today at the Elections Office in Lowndes County, 2808 N. Oak St.
If you voted in the primary election, you can only vote in the runoff election for the same party you voted previously.
If you voted Democrat, you have one race, a run off for Secretary of State.
If you voted on the Republican side, you can vote again, with several races to be decided — two county commission races locally as well as governor, attorney general, commissioner of insurance and public service commissioner. If you didn’t vote at all in the primary election, you can vote on either side for the run off.
Considering that two of the local races were decided by one vote, those who insist that their vote doesn’t count are sadly mistaken. And considering that the runoff usually garners even fewer votes than the primary, your one vote is even more important this time around.
There are no excuses for not voting with nearly two weeks to the official Aug. 10 runoff election day. So please go to the polls.
Be assured that your vote counts. Go vote. Today.
