VALDOSTA — Snow scenes bring a nice respite from the South Georgia heat with artist Eleanor Bollman’s current Southern Artists League Artist of the Month show on exhibit in the lobby of The Valdosta Daily Times’ 201 N. Troup St. headquarters.
Bollman presents a series of painterly canvases that depict contrasting compositions of dark, almost silhouetted houses amidst the cool lights of the fallen snow. These winter wonderlands may reflect Bollman’s time in New York state but it is her native South Georgia which she calls home.
Bollman grew up in Colquitt County but, for more than 20 years, she has lived in the Valdosta area, where she has participated in many area art shows.
Not all of her paintings are of snow scenes but they are from diverse locales, which she unites with the stamp of her personal artistic style. She paints from photographs taken during her extensive travels. Lately, she has been exploring portraiture through the instruction of local artist Bob Brabham.
