Received my Voting Precinct Card today. I live on Eager Road in the City and voted at the precinct on Country Club Drive, but will now vote at the precinct at the intersection of North Oak Street Ext. and Bemiss Road in the County. The lady at the Registration Office says, "Well, it's just down the street." Makes sense to me, not.
How many so-called Real Americans are willing to work 16-hour, hot, dusty days, for low pay? Raise your hands. Unless you and your family are willing to do the work; don't deny honest people the right to support their families. This is America; the land of opportunity for anyone who wants it.
In defense of first responders, I will tell you they have spent hours of training and have equipment to maintain and save a life especially until EMTs arrive. I should know because my husband is alive today because of God and a group of first responders in the paper mill 1999. I give praise to God for those guys that gave their time to learn to respond to an emergency before EMTs were upon the scene.
I agree with the rant about Lowndes hiring outside. Does the new Superintendent not think there are qualified current employees? Also, why do so many principals live outside the county? I know at least three principals don't live in the county (or city), probably more. Are we good enough to pay their salary, but not good enough to live with?
To the poster referencing "Caesar's latest decree from the White House": A great number of those "illegals" take the jobs that "our own citizens" are too lazy to do.
The Boards of Education of Valdosta/Lowndes County voted against charter schools, yet our representatives (we voted them in, we can vote them out) went along with Gov. Deal (let's make a deal!) to put our tax dollars into charter schools while cutting funding for public schools, furloughing teachers, increasing the size of classes, and eliminating programs due to lack of funding! Vote no on the charter school issue!
To the person with concern about the towing company's prices. Remember if you must get your vehicle towed you have the option to have a towing company of "your" choice pick up your vehicle. No one can force you to use a company you do not want to use.
Buy books. This will help the economy and create jobs. If you actually read them, it will potentially help you, too.
