We need to get rid of a president that constantly tries to divide our country by using class warfare and making it seem unpatriotic and a bad thing to work hard and make more money than others in your community. He has proposed a health plan that will force everyone to buy health insurance. This, of course, doesn’t take effect until after the election. He also wants gasoline to be so expensive that we all have to drive battery operated cars. His only assets are public speaking and a boyish grin. He is killing our country.
Do you realize that our federal government is keeping interest rates low (depriving the savers of any income on their hard earned money) by printing money rather than borrowing it. While we struggle, our government officials have great salaries, insurance and retirement plans. Our president doesn’t ever mention cutting out some of this, he would only have you blame your more prosperous neighbors and tax them more.
That’s what you have to talk about- someone taking logs out of a pond? Why would you or anyone else care? Is someone hurting you or your property by taking logs out of a pond?
The VDT “Questions” letter writer who discussed racism said “media has done all they can to create racial tension"; then he asserted that “Obama... is secretly working toward racial riots this summer”. That’s beyond absurd: It looks to me like the racist in this picture is the “Questions” writer.
I drive a school bus for Valdosta City Schools and I have to ask. Why don’t the “students” at J. L. Newbern middle school understand what it means to sit down and be quiet? They don’t even know whether they are boys or girls as I have told them where to sit many times and they still get it wrong. The education system in this town is failing these children. They have no respect for authority or property.
It’s embarrassing that a VDT letter writer is openly spreading rumors, saying our government is secretly planning race riots in conspiracy with a “Gestapo” media. Believe me, we’re not all that ignorant nor under informed.
The rules are no smoking on the school campus. If you are smoking in your car, you are violating the rule.
There are so many busy bodies around this area that can’t keep their noses out of others’ business.

Over 150 applicants applied for the handful of teaching jobs in Lowndes County. Plus, almost every single paraprofessional is a certified teacher who has been waiting patiently, “doing their time.” And, Lake Park Elementary hires a teacher who has quit, not once, but twice before. The "good ole' boy" network at its finest.

Have we progressed to the point where we are arguing about gay marriage? I thought the South was still outraged about blacks being able to marry whites! Hmm...We will catch up to the rest of the world eventually.

I found the cartoon referencing Tim Tebow's Christianity on Thursday's editorial page very offensive. I can agree that many people are out for what God can do for them, not how they can serve God, But I do not see any evidence of that attitude or life style in Tim Tebow's life. Time will tell.

Good riddance to the doctor unable to take Medicaid patients?! Do you work for free? I bet you go to work and expect a paycheck. Why would the doctor be any different? Blame our fearless leaders, not the doctors. And you are WAY out of line questioning whether that person is Christian or not. Sounds like the person who thinks preachers should work for free.

Amazing: Even a judgmental person like yourself can’t even bother to get the facts straight before you criticize something. Jason Collins did an extremely brave thing by coming out in a world filled with people such as yourself. Words of Wisdom: Leave the judging to God.

To all who use Coleman Road as a short cut between Old Highway 41 North and North Valdosta Road, please remember the speed limit is 35, not 65. Tailgating me isn’t going to make me go faster. Remember, it’s our neighborhoods, not your short cut!

I hope Al Sharpton finds time to visit the mother in Brunswick whose baby was shot point blank in the forehead while in his baby stroller. Perhaps the reverend could also counsel the angry young black man who pulled the trigger. Oh wait, the baby was white. Never mind.

I thought that all schools had dress codes that the teachers and substitutes had to follow? When I walk into the school it looks like they are headed to the pool instead of the classroom. Tank tops and skimpy skirts are not allowed. Come on, administration, make them follow the rules. Thank you, to the teachers and staff that do adhere to the dress code.

Property tax should be based on value. School taxes should be separate and assessed to each household equally, no exemptions. The rich, middle and poor should pay equally for children's public education.
