VALDOSTA —
I am also unhappy with my voting place. We were voting at Shiloh Fire Station where the lines were short and all our neighbors were there. Also, the people that worked there were courteous. Then they moved our precinct uptown to Hahira. It is a madhouse and we have to stand in line for a long time. I will vote early in Valdosta from now on, we don't have to stand in line there. It is worth it to drive there.
As for Lowndes hiring from the outside, do we know any on the inside are qualified, or even interesting in applying?
I also received a new Voter Precinct Card. I live in the county and will now have to go over by Hudson Docket to vote. Hoping I get an opportunity to go during the work day, because I refuse to go over there in the afternoon/evening.
I agree with the ranter about the superintendent not hiring from inside the system. That has always been the Valdosta way and there is no need to bring in any new fangled ideas from that "outside" world. We are just fine with the status quo here. Why..we have the best high school football anywhere, after all, and what else matters?
What is going on with the softball coaches at Lowndes? Why was the old one fired and this new one brought in, and his wife given a teaching job, and no one at the central office will talk about it. Is the new superintendent cleaning house?
I would like to personally thank the people who stopped to help my mother and daughter when my mini-van caught fire on St. Augustine Rd Wednesday. Also, thanks to Valdosta's FINEST for their help and support during difficult time. May God Bless you all!
I had car trouble and pulled into the Police Department and popped the hood. I am a young woman and was by myself. Though I know little about cars, I tried to check my oil and problem shoot for around 20 minutes before I finally contacted a friend to come help me. Numerous police officers walked through the parking lot and none asked if I needed help. This is southern hospitality?
Perhaps so many principals live outside the county due to the unreasonable difference between the cost of a decent home in Lowndes County (vs. neighboring counties) and the public school pay scale.
I think some people would absolutely go insane if they couldn't get into others' business. They are half way there now.

How long is it going to take AT&T telephone and/or Mediacom cable to do something about the vines and bushes growing over the cable lines at Mt. Zion Church Road and Academy Acres. The lines are pulled down where a 6 foot person can touch them. We won’t have any cable service or phone service if something is not done about this pretty soon.

Alright Sister's Pizza, how am I supposed to cheat on my diet if you stay closed! The other pizza places are too far from downtown for my lunch hour and are a bit too greasy.

I am thankful I chose to stick with Deep South Sanitation. Our trash is always picked up right on time and he never leaves anything behind. After all my neighbors' trash is "picked up," often items are strewn by the road and the cans are either left in the road or fallen in or beside the road. Get rid of the big company and move to Deep South, if you want true customer service!

Over 150 applicants applied for the handful of teaching jobs in Lowndes County. Plus, almost every single paraprofessional is a certified teacher who has been waiting patiently, “doing their time.” And, Lake Park Elementary hires a teacher who has quit, not once, but twice before. The "good ole' boy" network at its finest.

Have we progressed to the point where we are arguing about gay marriage? I thought the South was still outraged about blacks being able to marry whites! Hmm...We will catch up to the rest of the world eventually.

I found the cartoon referencing Tim Tebow's Christianity on Thursday's editorial page very offensive. I can agree that many people are out for what God can do for them, not how they can serve God, But I do not see any evidence of that attitude or life style in Tim Tebow's life. Time will tell.

Good riddance to the doctor unable to take Medicaid patients?! Do you work for free? I bet you go to work and expect a paycheck. Why would the doctor be any different? Blame our fearless leaders, not the doctors. And you are WAY out of line questioning whether that person is Christian or not. Sounds like the person who thinks preachers should work for free.

Amazing: Even a judgmental person like yourself can’t even bother to get the facts straight before you criticize something. Jason Collins did an extremely brave thing by coming out in a world filled with people such as yourself. Words of Wisdom: Leave the judging to God.

To all who use Coleman Road as a short cut between Old Highway 41 North and North Valdosta Road, please remember the speed limit is 35, not 65. Tailgating me isn’t going to make me go faster. Remember, it’s our neighborhoods, not your short cut!
