I believe the VDT published an interview with the City Manager stating there will not be any increase in traffic congestion due to Olive Garden. Once again an example that he does not know what he is doing. How much time is he actually doing work in his office compared to meetings that he is out at....city business and not city business.
The county does not “hold” Pre-K slots for their employees. We have to enter the lotto like everyone else. And believe me...we were not all picked!
You see nothing wrong with putting teachers’ kids first? You must be a teacher. Most of these teachers don’t even live in Lowndes County, but their kids go for free because they teach there. I’ll go one further and say, since my tax dollars pay their salaries, their kids should be taken out of the pool!
Oh My! My Lowndes County middle school student just brought home a letter in regards to the grading policy. Lowndes county students will now be given a chance to improve ANY and ALL grades, especially below 70 percent!!! Why don’t we just do away with grades and pass EVERYBODY.
Problems, problems at the Chamber of Commerce. It sounds like it’s time for the Board of Directors to wake up.
It was mentioned last fall, but now it has come true. Thanks CUEE for draining dollars from the community from the folks that need them most. Every United Way agency in town has been cut by thousands of dollars. I imagine the first place they will save money is on chamber dues.
It made me sad to see the Lake Park Chamber discreetly taking political stands on city issues at the annual dinner. Chambers should not be taking political stands. My business is members of both the Valdosta and Lake Park Chamber, but I am just about ready to drop both memberships.
I am speechless about Lowndes County Schools “new” grading policy. Parents newsletters came home today. I would like to know what my child is going to be doing while all of this “teaching the same material” and retest testing is going on? I would like a letter explaining that please.
Most people said that crime is getting out of control in Valdosta (poll on 1/27). How many of you participate in a neighborhood watch? Do you even know your neighbors? Do you have a Georgia Weapons License? Do you carry a means of protection? The police can’t do it all. You have got to start taking care of yourself and your neighborhood.

I know two LMS students who have continuously been in trouble this year and had mostly failing grades; however, now they are being promoted because teachers no longer can give zeros, but have to record a 60, even for assignments not turned in! How is it ethical to give grades that weren’t earned and what does this teach about responsibility and consequence?

If you cannot watch your children, perhaps you shouldn’t have children.

Concerning taking up multiple parking spots in “public” lots. Remember that these are mostly on private lots (including Walmart) and the only reason they don’t say anything is because they don’t want you taking your money elsewhere. A little courtesy, especially on busy days, goes a long way.

I apologize to anyone my child annoyed at Chick-Fil-A Saturday when I went to the bathroom ...

Are we really replacing hard-working persons with illegal aliens just to save a few dollars? Business owners should be wary and take care of those who have helped them get where they are now!

To the person who is referring to people complaining about people being on welfare; no one was pin-pointing you. I have been simply referring to the people to openly advertise how they cheat the system and never have to work, and live better than I do. And, for your information, I too am a single mother who struggles everyday to provide for my son. So, honey, I have walked a mile if not more in my own shoes of despair.

I have also heard the gunshots in Hahira. I’ve lived there for years but it seems to have gotten worse lately. I tried to tell a policeman in the store the other day but ... The last time I heard the shots was actually a couple Sundays ago, around lunchtime. I've assumed it was people hunting in the woods around Union Road but the shot pattern didn’t sound conducive to this last time.

Raves and thanks to SODEXO, who keeps our little part of Lowndes County (Mineola) clean and beautiful. We appreciate it!

I too would like to see a minor league baseball team located in Valdosta, but I doubt if it would be supported well enough to justify.

I am a Lowndes County resident speaking to the city leaders concerning LOST. Everyone’s budgets are tight. I hope you are ready to pay the attorney’s fees and court costs out of your decided share. I do not want my share of the tax offset to be reduced because of you.
