VALDOSTA —
There is a "No Left Turn" sign on Forrest Street Extension, turning into Branch Point. Apparently, there are lots of people who don't understand this because I have almost gotten into three different accidents on two different days for people turning left. The reason for the no left turn? Because if you're waiting for traffic to clear so you can make the left turn, those coming behind you from Bemiss, do not see you until it's basically too late.
I'm not the first, nor the last, to thank the county commissioners for the beautiful roadside colors every day of every week. The blue and green trash cans are what the community needed. We are certain to attract more visitors to the community. “Wild life.” Stupid idea!
Just what I thought would happen with this forced trash pickup in the county. The first day my trash was to be picked up, the trash truck was a no show. I tried to call Advanced Disposal, the line was busy first three times I tried to call. When I did get a answer it was the ol’ ‘all the people were busy with other calls,’ then I was told they could not answer the phone to call back later. Called the county, the lady at the county office checked with Advanced Disposal she said they would pick up my trash within 24 hours. I have not seen them yet.
To the comment about employers cutting hours so as not to pay health benefits, it is obvious that you have never run a business! With all of the costs associated with operations, the owner is the first one to go without a paycheck, sometimes for months at a time! Take a little personal initiative and buy your own health insurance! The nanny state has got to stop!
We are a community of whiners. We complain about every decision our leadership makes, but we offer no alternatives.
To the white Nissan Maxima speeding through the school zone on Hill Avenue, you ought to be ashamed. I hope you made it to where you are going on time —without causing a wreck.
Ranter said, "Only in Valdosta could a little kid peddle door to door 5 cents worth of lemonade for a dollar and the citizen has the right to call the cops on them for soliciting without a license." I say, still glad we have that ordinance. Kids shouldn't knock on doors alone. If an adult helps sell, then buy the license for “the cause.”
Are we only going to have raves on Wednesday? I enjoy a day dedicated to raves, but the days with all rants are a bummer. It'd be nice to have some positive mixed in.

Over 150 applicants applied for the handful of teaching jobs in Lowndes County. Plus, almost every single paraprofessional is a certified teacher who has been waiting patiently, “doing their time.” And, Lake Park Elementary hires a teacher who has quit, not once, but twice before. The "good ole' boy" network at its finest.

Have we progressed to the point where we are arguing about gay marriage? I thought the South was still outraged about blacks being able to marry whites! Hmm...We will catch up to the rest of the world eventually.

I found the cartoon referencing Tim Tebow's Christianity on Thursday's editorial page very offensive. I can agree that many people are out for what God can do for them, not how they can serve God, But I do not see any evidence of that attitude or life style in Tim Tebow's life. Time will tell.

Good riddance to the doctor unable to take Medicaid patients?! Do you work for free? I bet you go to work and expect a paycheck. Why would the doctor be any different? Blame our fearless leaders, not the doctors. And you are WAY out of line questioning whether that person is Christian or not. Sounds like the person who thinks preachers should work for free.

Amazing: Even a judgmental person like yourself can’t even bother to get the facts straight before you criticize something. Jason Collins did an extremely brave thing by coming out in a world filled with people such as yourself. Words of Wisdom: Leave the judging to God.

To all who use Coleman Road as a short cut between Old Highway 41 North and North Valdosta Road, please remember the speed limit is 35, not 65. Tailgating me isn’t going to make me go faster. Remember, it’s our neighborhoods, not your short cut!

I hope Al Sharpton finds time to visit the mother in Brunswick whose baby was shot point blank in the forehead while in his baby stroller. Perhaps the reverend could also counsel the angry young black man who pulled the trigger. Oh wait, the baby was white. Never mind.

I thought that all schools had dress codes that the teachers and substitutes had to follow? When I walk into the school it looks like they are headed to the pool instead of the classroom. Tank tops and skimpy skirts are not allowed. Come on, administration, make them follow the rules. Thank you, to the teachers and staff that do adhere to the dress code.

Property tax should be based on value. School taxes should be separate and assessed to each household equally, no exemptions. The rich, middle and poor should pay equally for children's public education.
