VALDOSTA — One big Rave for the Williams family on Wendover and their Christmas Musical light show. We heard they also put the light show on the Relay for Life float in the Valdosta Christmas Parade.

This Hill Avenue detour is going to be just wonderful with the CSX train keeping the road blocked every few minutes.

Just to say a great big thanks to the neighborly folks who helped me get my car started when it stalled in the pick-up line at Berrien Primary in Nashville Monday afternoon. There ARE still nice and helpful folks in the world!

The retiree complaining about the graduate student having health insurance thanks to Obama's health care plan clearly does not understand how this plan works. It allows young people to stay on their parents' insurance until the age of 26, not a public plan paid for by taxpayers. Either way, shouldn't we be happy that more of our fellow citizens can now afford health care?

All this hoopla about a police officer buying a homeless man boots, people really don’t understand that 99 percent of cops are the good guys. The lady cop at my daughter’s school is always buying the kids shoes, jackets and clothes for kids that really need it!!

The "Free Phone" program was started under Reagan. Please know your history before you start ranting, you make conservatives look bad.

The article about those homeless people under the overpass was sad. The churches should work to build a homeless shelter instead of the big fancy churches I see in town.

The Bible never, not once, ever authorizes a new testament pastor to collect tithes. He is not a Levite and he will never be a Levite. Only a Levitical priest is authorized to take tithes. Tithes were also only food. They were never cash either.

Please remember the less fortunate during not only the holiday season, but all year long. Not only children, but elderly people are also in need. It's the season of giving — not just gifts, but of ourselves.

We VCS teachers are teaching our soles off our feet with these new CCGPS standards and when we go to meetings all we hear is do this do that, more, more, more! We cannot do any more!I have been teaching 20 years and 20 years ago there was not a word called stress! It is NOW a household word! Enough is enough! Whoever made up the units were not in touch with reality on these children's grade level.

I am thankful I chose to stick with Deep South Sanitation. Our trash is always picked up right on time and he never leaves anything behind. After all my neighbors' trash is "picked up," often items are strewn by the road and the cans are either left in the road or fallen in or beside the road. Get rid of the big company and move to Deep South, if you want true customer service!

Over 150 applicants applied for the handful of teaching jobs in Lowndes County. Plus, almost every single paraprofessional is a certified teacher who has been waiting patiently, “doing their time.” And, Lake Park Elementary hires a teacher who has quit, not once, but twice before. The "good ole' boy" network at its finest.

Have we progressed to the point where we are arguing about gay marriage? I thought the South was still outraged about blacks being able to marry whites! Hmm...We will catch up to the rest of the world eventually.

I found the cartoon referencing Tim Tebow's Christianity on Thursday's editorial page very offensive. I can agree that many people are out for what God can do for them, not how they can serve God, But I do not see any evidence of that attitude or life style in Tim Tebow's life. Time will tell.

Good riddance to the doctor unable to take Medicaid patients?! Do you work for free? I bet you go to work and expect a paycheck. Why would the doctor be any different? Blame our fearless leaders, not the doctors. And you are WAY out of line questioning whether that person is Christian or not. Sounds like the person who thinks preachers should work for free.

Amazing: Even a judgmental person like yourself can’t even bother to get the facts straight before you criticize something. Jason Collins did an extremely brave thing by coming out in a world filled with people such as yourself. Words of Wisdom: Leave the judging to God.

Raves to Mrs. Kay and Mrs. Sylvia at Cook Primary! They have the best behaved class and are the best teachers in that school!

To all who use Coleman Road as a short cut between Old Highway 41 North and North Valdosta Road, please remember the speed limit is 35, not 65. Tailgating me isn’t going to make me go faster. Remember, it’s our neighborhoods, not your short cut!

I hope Al Sharpton finds time to visit the mother in Brunswick whose baby was shot point blank in the forehead while in his baby stroller. Perhaps the reverend could also counsel the angry young black man who pulled the trigger. Oh wait, the baby was white. Never mind.

I thought that all schools had dress codes that the teachers and substitutes had to follow? When I walk into the school it looks like they are headed to the pool instead of the classroom. Tank tops and skimpy skirts are not allowed. Come on, administration, make them follow the rules. Thank you, to the teachers and staff that do adhere to the dress code.
